Medfield 12U Little Leaguers chase the dream

This August, a group of 8 Medfield 12-year-old All-Stars traveled to Cooperstown, New York, to compete in a tournament at the legendary Cooperstown Dreams Park — a bucket-list experience for Little League players across the country. The Medfield contingent was part of a larger Massachusetts Sluggers Fury squad that played against teams from across the country and world that they never would have in regular season play. Highlights of the week included a dominant win against a team that had traveled from Sydney, Australia and a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The team was coached by Dave Walsh and CJ Dexter.

For the Medfield players, the trip carried extra weight. For most of the team, this tournament marked their final games on a Little League "small diamond" before graduating to the full-size "big diamond" next season. Beyond the wins and losses, the week gave these young players a chance to bunk together in the Cooperstown Dreams Park barracks, trade baseball pins, and create a memorable send-off to this chapter of their baseball journey.
