Get ready to share stories, songs, and poems about your cats and dogs (or anything else).
Even if you aren't a pet owner, you should try to make it to The Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse at 7 p.m. on August 27 at First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Medfield. Held on the last Saturday of every month, the Expresso is an opportunity for spoken word artists to share their poetry, stories, and songs. Teens and adults are welcomed to participate or just enjoy the evening.
Featured this month is singer/songwriter Jacob Haller with the "cats and dogs" theme. Jake has been a fixture of the Rhode Island music scene for the past ten years, and has been frequently featured in popular shows such as AS220's Empire Revue and Common Fence Point Music's annual Gathering of Fiddlers & Fishermen. His eclectic original songs cover topics ranging from robots to knitting to relationships to kittens, and resulted in him getting nominated for best singer/songwriter in 2010 in the Providence Phoenix. The series is sponsored by Starbucks of Medfield. $5 donation ($3 students).
