The Bellforge Arts Center recently hosted their family favorite event: Fun At The ‘Forge: Spring Family Day. This event returned to the grounds of the former Medfield State Hospital after the success of last years editions of this event. This event was created to place the spotlight onto the younger generations, inviting local families to enjoy.
Originally, the event was to be held on Saturday, though poor weather conditions pushed the event to Sunday. The sudden change in plans didn’t stop local families and community members from surrounding towns to partake in the events of the day.
This year’s event brought fourth a variety of vendor tables, owned and operated by members of the youth. Children sold handcrafted items which they had created. Aside from these talented artists, children were welcomed to participate in a community art project, hosted by the Bellforge Arts Center, to create a picture of springtime. All of the children delighted in painting their pictures and the opportunity to be apart of this artshow case, which is set to take place in the fall.
Families were also able to enjoy a hands-on, outdoor science show which featured misty dry ice storms, enormous floating beach balls, crackling, trembling scissors, and effervescent showers that enchanted children of all ages. Rockabyebeats, a family-friendly band, performed their catchy sing-along tunes and had children up on their feet dancing along.
At the end of the event, Medfield hosted their first-ever Holi celebration. Everyone was invited to toss vibrant, washable powders and splash with colorful water in a joyful explosion of fun, connection, and new beginnings.
It was the perfect family-friendly kick off event to enjoy the warmer weather season. For more information about events such as these, please visit: bellforge.org/events/
