The Zullo Gallery hosted a milestone 30th Annual Jured Exhibition with many artists in attendance and a big turnout of art fans.
Each year, Boston area artists that are 18 years of age and older submit their work in August to the current year’s juror. This year’s juror was Patrick McCay, artist and professor at New England College Institute of Art and Design. McCay chose the works to be included in the exhibition, from submissions in many different types of media, including photographs, paintings, silkscreens, mixed media, prints of various types, and scratchboard work, among others. The works chosen were both traditional and contemporary in style.
Each of the art pieces showed beautifully in the attractive and comfortable gallery. Attendees chatted around the refreshments table, caught up with friends, and, most importantly, lingered in front of the art pieces to appreciate the talent and ingenuity of the artists. Several attendees relaxed outside on the gallery’s charming rooftop deck, looking over downtown Medfield.
Notable works included a colorful and inventive work created with mixed media, acrylic, and markers “United States of Emotion” by Guilietta Nardone, Kurt Jackson’s incredibly detailed scratchboard work “Leather and Laces,” Janet Montecalvo’s large oil on wood painting, the humorous “Cats in the Cradle,” and Tara Billiotta’s large oil on canvas painting, “Elements of Decay,” done in shades of brown and tan.
The Zullo Gallery’s 30th Annual Juried Exhibition will run from September 14 through November 2, 2024, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. A visit to the gallery would make a wonderful afternoon’s sojourn with good friends or family. You may even find a piece for your home. You can find more information at www.zullogallery.org.
