The summer concert series under the Hometown Weekly’s (HTW) umbrella of towns have become a beloved tradition, drawing music lovers of all ages to enjoy evenings filled with live performances under the stars.

Out of the six towns that our paper encompasses, several of them enlist local musicians to perform during their summer concert series. These towns include Medfield, Walpole, Dover, Sherborn, and Westwood.

These concerts are a fun and free way to enjoy a night on the town with your friends and family, support local artists, and perhaps even find your new favorite performer. Be sure to fill your schedule with these local upcoming acts:

On the lawn of the Sherborn Library, each Wednesday night, promptly at 6pm, the Sherborn Summer Concert Series will be held. On July 10th, Hank Wonder, a group who holds a mix of classic country twang and southern soul,  will be performing; the following week on July 17th, the lawn will be filled with big sound, crisp harmonies, and a powerful brass section when Group Therapy performs. The final concert of the series will be held on July 24th with a performance by the Wolff Sisters, a rag-tag group of sisters who bring a big sound to timeless American tunes.

Just down the road in Dover, on the Town House lawn, their summer concert series will take place each Tuesday night in July at 6:30[m. Group Therapy, a group so nice you should see them twice, will also perform here on July 16th. The following Tuesday, July 23, Dover locals Eddy's Shoe are set to return, delighting audiences with their classic jam band covers. Their final concert will be held on July 30 when The Teardowns will return to the Town House lawn to perform high energy rock tunes.

Concerts on the Common will return to Walpole on Tuesday, July 9 at 6pm. Each band will play in the gazebo in Walpole Town Common. Silver City Band will kick off the series. Off the Coast will play the following Tuesday, July 16th, followed by a performance by 4EverFab on July 23rd, then the final concert of July on July 30th with BC & Company. This series will continue in August, with more information to come.

Savings Bank of Walpole has also been hosting a summer concert series each Sunday night on the town green at 6pm. During the month of July, the town green will host Nelson Town Band on Sunday, July 7, East Bay Jazz Ensemble on July 14, Springfield Community Band on July 21, and The Temple Band on July 28. This summer concert series will continue in August as well, with more details to follow.

Just like Walpole, Medfield will be holding two summer concert series as well; Wednesday nights at Bellforge Arts Center at 6pm and MEMO will host their Summer Concert Series at the Medfield Public Library Gazebo on Thursdays at 6pm. The Bellforge Schedule is as follows: Impossible Dog & Chrysalis on July 10, Lost Film & Hey I’m Outside on July 17, Winkler & Trash Rabbit on July 24, and Axel & Lolo & Avi Jacob on July 31.

The MEMO Concert Series schedule includes the following performances: Route 109 Acoustic on July 11, Back Pages on July 18, and Ticklejuice on July 25. This concert series will continue in August with further details to come.

The Westwood Young Women’s Club (WYWC) will be hosting their annual summer concert series for children during the month of July as well! Local children’s artists will perform for little ones and their families. This summer concert series will be held each Monday evening at 6pm in the gazebo at the Westwood Council on Aging. Monday July 8th will feature Matt Heanon, July 15 will showcase Music at the Blissful, July 22 will host Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys, and the final performance will showcase beloved local children’s performer The Stacey Peaseley band.

There are so many summer sounds to behold in all of our towns, so bring your lawn chairs, pack a picnic, or bring cash for food trucks and enjoy a night on the town. Hometown Weekly wishes everyone well on their venture to find their new favorite local artists as we all navigate through these sounds of summer.
