Girls basketball plays hard, raises funds

On Friday, January 25, fans packed the DS stands to see both the girls basketball JV and varsity teams play and defeat TVL rival Bellingham. The 5th grade Metrowest Youth girls played each other at halftime, and the varsity players were there to cheer them on.

Fans who came to the game were told that the gate fee to attend the varsity game - as well as the money spent on concessions - would be donated to Donate. (period), a charity started by senior captain Haley Gladstone three years ago. Haley has been collecting pads and tampons, as well as monetary gifts to purchase feminine hygiene products for A Place To Turn in Natick, an emergency food and clothing pantry that services the Metrowest areas. Each week, she creates individual bags of products that are handed out to clients who are referred to the pantry. After the basketball game, $250 was collected for Donate. (period), and fans and players were reminded of the teen girls and women who are so grateful for basic hygiene products.

The Dover Sherborn girls basketball team has two remaining home games: Tuesday, February 5 vs. Holliston; and Friday, February 15, vs. Norton (Senior Night). JV games start at 5:00 p.m., varsity starts at 6:30 p.m.
