Timed just right for Mother’s Day, the Boggestow Garden Club Annual Geranium Sale will be held on Saturday, May 12, as part of the Sherborn Library Arts and Crafts Fair. The sale will take place on Jamison Field near the entrance to Pine Hill Lane at 10 a.m. — no advance sales — and continue until all plants are sold.
Buyers will be able to choose from an array of nine spectacular colors, such as strawberry sizzle, hot pink, and purple sizzle, as well as all-time favorites cardinal red and salmon pink. It would be difficult to find such a range of colors at any one nursery and definitely not at Boggestow Garden Club prices. These beauties will brighten any sunny doorstep, deck, or garden.
For many years, the Boggestow Garden Club has been working with the same grower, who brings out these robust plants at the peak of their first blooming, ready to keep blooming until the first hard frost. They make excellent gifts for Mother’s Day and are timely for Memorial Day commemoration. These hearty plants will be sold in 12-inch tubs and 10- and 4-inch pots at prices that can’t be beaten.
Help will be available to assist shoppers in making their selections and loading their cars.
The geranium sale is the principal fundraising event of the Boggestow Garden Club of Sherborn. Proceeds are used to carry out projects that enhance the beauty of our surroundings. In recent years these have included landscape improvements at Woodhaven Elder Housing, planting and maintaining gardens in public areas including Town Hall, maintenance of planters and roadside trees, restoration of the war memorial site at the “split,” and contributions to the library fund for future landscaping and to a fund for restoration of trees destroyed by tornadoes in the Springfield area.
