Exercise is important throughout all phases of life, but it can become increasingly difficult as one ages. Knowing the safest and correct kind of exercises can be difficult, especially as the body is changing, and things such as balance and coordination may not be as strong as before. Luckily, there are a number of options for the seniors of Sherborn, including Exercise with Linda. This course is offered twice a week, Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m at St. Theresa Church. Linda Bellefeuille has been teaching exercise courses for years, and her experience adds value to the relatively inexpensive class.
“I’ve been teaching this course for about 12 years, but it’s been going on since before I was here, too,” Bellefeuille shared. This course is partly funded by a grant through Bay Path Elder Services until Title III Older American Act Funds. Participants are asked to make a $3 donation per class. “This is a fitness class so it focuses on balance, strength, muscle toning - we do abs, balance, a lot of balance,” Bellefeuille added. While it is a fitness class, the course focuses on non-impact exercise, meaning it is safe for almost all who wish to attend. She teaches class in four neighboring towns: Sherborn, Dover, Holliston, and Hopkinton.
While the group may be small, they are incredibly connected, making for an enjoyable and smile-filled workout – something rather rare to see. Bellefeuille is a great class leader, making sure to explain each movement thoroughly, despite the fact that most of those in attendance seem to be experts in her class. Since the course is rather small, any who are interested are welcome to give it a try and experience the benefits for themselves.
