The Chicatabot Garden Club is inviting the public to hear Kathi Garieipy present a program on “Forcing Bulbs” on Tuesday, October 16, at the Dover Town Library, Lower Level. Coffee is served at 9:00, and the program will begin at 9:30.
Forcing bulbs is easy and fun, according to Garieipy. Certainly during the dreary winter months, adding color and fragrance to our lives reminds us that spring truly will come. In the meantime, we can enjoy that promise in the warmth of our homes if we have chosen wisely and planted well. Garieipy will speak about the history of bulbs, which bulbs are best for forcing, and how and why they are able to be forced.
Kathi Gariepy is a former special needs preschool and kindergarten teacher who has been gardening since she was a child. She is a Lifetime Master Gardener, past Vice President of the Master Gardener Association and past chair of the Master Gardener Advisory Board. In addition, she is past president of the Attleboro Garden Club and past chair of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts’ Gardening Study School.
Kathy is a Landscape Design Consultant with her own business: Pleasant Vistas. She has worked extensively with Mass. Hort. both as educator and gardener. She lives in an old farmhouse with perennial borders, herb gardens, a vegetable garden, lots of various fruit trees and shrubs as well as some very old, still producing, apple trees.
All are welcome to attend, free of charge.
