The Sherborn Lions Club has a busy fall ahead, with opportunities for children and teens to get creative, speak up and challenge themselves; free health screenings for area residents; community service opportunities; and, of course, some holiday fun. From the Lions Peace Poster Contest and Massachusetts Lions Youth Speech Competition to the return of the Sherborn Holiday Market, there is plenty happening in the months ahead.
Young Artists: Imagine Peace
The annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest is now underway, inviting middle school students and children ages 11–13 to express their vision of peace through art.
For nearly four decades, the contest has encouraged young people around the world to think about what peace means to them and translate those ideas into original artwork. Here in Sherborn, young artists have an opportunity to add their own voices and creativity to this international tradition.
Completed posters must be submitted by Monday, November 2nd at 8:30 a.m. Contest information, rules and submission details are available at SherbornLionsClub.org.

Calling All High School Speakers
For older students, the Sherborn Lions are bringing another longstanding Lions tradition to town: the Massachusetts Lions Youth Speech Competition. This statewide competition gives high school students an opportunity to develop their public-speaking skills, organize and express their ideas, and compete with students from communities across Massachusetts.
This year's topic is: “The Book That Most Affected Me Was…”
Students in grades 9–12 are invited to prepare an original speech of five to eight minutes exploring a book that has had a meaningful impact on them. At the Sherborn Club Level competition, students may read directly from their manuscripts, making this an approachable opportunity even for those who are new to public speaking.
The Club Level winner will receive a $100 prize and advance to the next stage of the Massachusetts competition. From there, students can progress through Zone, Region and District competitions, with District winners ultimately advancing to the statewide competition. The Massachusetts state winner receives $1,500, with $500 awarded to each state runner-up. The Sherborn Lions Club Level Competition will be held Wednesday, November 18 at 5 p.m. at the Sherborn 1858 Town House. Interested students and families can learn more and register at SherbornLionsClub.org.
Save the Date: The Sherborn Holiday Market Returns December 12th!
Holiday preparations are already underway! The Sherborn Lions Club and Sherborn Community Center Foundation are once again joining together to co-host the Sherborn Holiday Market, taking place Saturday, December 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Holiday Market is being thoughtfully curated to bring together an appealing mix of artisans, makers and distinctive products for holiday giving. Visitors can browse the work of talented artisans, discover unique gifts and enjoy a festive day in the heart of Sherborn. And for the younger members of the family, there will be a very special visitor. Santa will be joining us! Children and families will have an opportunity to meet Santa and take holiday photos, making the Market as much a family outing as a shopping destination.
Proceeds from the event support the work of the Sherborn Lions Club and the Sherborn Community Center Foundation, while the Market also provides an opportunity to showcase local artisans and bring neighbors together during the holiday season. More details will be announced as the event approaches. Visit SherbornHolidayMarket.org for updates.

Want to Help? There Is a Place for You
None of these programs happens without volunteers, and the Sherborn Lions Club is looking for new members and community members who would like to lend a hand. Joining the Lions doesn't have to mean taking on another major commitment.
Whether you have just an hour or more, there are opportunities to help with events, fundraising, publicity and press releases, marketing and social media, financial and treasury work, community outreach, youth programs and behind-the-scenes planning. Some people enjoy working directly at events; others would rather contribute a particular professional skill. Both are valuable.
The Lions' motto is simple: “We Serve.” How much time you have to serve is up to you. To learn more about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities or becoming a member of the Sherborn Lions Club, visit SherbornLionsClub.org.
