Over the weekend, The Rotary Club of Needham hosted the 10th annual carnival at the high school. The event consisted of four days of games, rides, prizes, and concessions for all ages. Attendees enjoyed treats like fried dough and ice cream while walking around to play carnival games or watch others compete. Some sported face paint and explored the fun house while others spent their tickets on some of the big rides.
Speaking on the second day of the event, Rotary Club member Ted Shaughnessy said: “The weather helps too, so last year was 95 or 100 degrees—full sun—so that slowed things down some. This weather—this four days is supposed to be perfect, so yeah we expect to have a better turnout. So far I think we’re doing well. And it’s—I like it like this, ‘cause this is not jammed, like it’s probably gonna be tomorrow—or Sunday.”
On how the carnival was going this year, Shaughnessy remarked: “Everybody’s happy, fun, laughing—except when the parents are dragging ‘em out, then the kids are screaming,” he joked. “‘I wanna go back, I wanna go back!’” Another member imitated.
