On Tuesday July 14, 2026, the Westwood swim team took on Walpole at the Center Pool in Walpole. It was the third meet of the season for undefeated Westwood.

Each summer consists of up to twelve dual meets, a championship meet plus a one mile relay on Saturday August 8.

The Suburban Summer League is made up of Canton, Dedham, Medfield, Medway/Millis/Holliston, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norwood, Sherborn, Walpole and Westwood.

The outdoor Walpole pool is 33 1/3 yards long which is 33% longer than the 25 yard Westwood indoor pool. That’s a tougher challenge for young swimmers.  All of them were up to the challenge.

There are over 45 aquanats in the Westwood swim program with age group competitors starting as early as four years old and going up into high school.  Forty of the swimmers competed against Walpole.

Champions are molded in the off season. Westwood’s athletes are not only on the diamond, the turf, the rink or the courts but also in the water.

There’s an inherent pride for the child and their coaches in developing novices into swimmers.  Swimming provides good physical and mental discipline with the added benefit of learning lifelong survival skills.

On this steamy July evening, Walpole beat Westwood, 333-116.  Westwood is now 2-1 on the season.
