On Saturday, Be Inclusive put on their third annual pride event at Stone Field one day ahead of the 57th anniversary of Stonewall, an historic event that set in motion the first pride parade.

Attendees of Saturday’s event played lawn games, walked around to vendors’ tables, and listened to music while chatting with others. They also enjoyed a performance by drag queens Nervous and Brae the Fallen.

On their website, Be Inclusive’s mission statement reads:

“Our mission is to create inclusive communities by lifting the voices of underrepresented and marginalized communities, recognizing diverse cultures and intersectional experiences, and supporting healthy racial identity development and ongoing anti-racist learning through education, community events, programming, and resources.“

“It feels good to see members of our community coming out to celebrate,” said one organizer. “It’s so close to Juneteenth, and having been to both, [the fact] that we’re seeing so many people come to both and celebrate, [and] the different diversities in our community … is great. It’s nice to see people bringing their kids, it’s nice to see everyone having fun.”

“That’s what I was going to say,” added another. “I love the turnout among the young kids, too. I think it’s important to have the young kids here, and show them what’s important, what we all stand for, right?”

Attendees lucked out with the weather, the rain holding off just long enough before beginning during the final few minutes of the event. After the quick storm, a rainbow appeared in the sky.
