Westwood Girls Hockey Powers Past Ashland, Improves to 13–1

The Westwood Girls Hockey team continued its impressive season Saturday night with a hard-fought win over Ashland, improving its record to an outstanding 13–1. The victory showcased not only Westwood’s depth and talent, but also the resilience and teamwork that have defined this season.

It was a true full-team effort, with five different players finding the back of the net and seven players recording assists, keeping the Ashland defense under constant pressure. The game remained tight through the first two periods, as Ashland played with determination and intensity, but Westwood’s persistence paid off. A highlight of the night came in the third period when Lia Willette scored her first varsity goal, a moment that energized the bench and crowd alike.

Defensively, Jennifer Lin delivered a standout performance in goal, turning aside a barrage of shots and preserving momentum for Westwood as Ashland pushed hard throughout the game. Her composure and athleticism were key in maintaining control during the early, closely contested stretches of play.

Beyond the win, the night carried special meaning as the team looks ahead to Senior Night, when Westwood will honor its three senior captains—Fallon Campbell, Justine Connelly, and Livvy Hicks. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment have helped shape a program built on trust, discipline, and heart.

Under the guidance of coaches Lauren Lopez and Shannon Gillis, this group of strong, talented young women continues to raise the bar, combining skill, strategy, and teamwork into a thrilling brand of hockey. As the season progresses, Westwood Girls Hockey is proving they are not only a team to watch, but a program to admire both on and off the ice.
