The most wonderful time of the year is here, and our local communities are ready to celebrate! From tree lightings and holiday markets to festive workshops and visits with Santa, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Mark your calendars for these can’t-miss events in our Hometown Weekly towns.
Medfield:
Kick off the season with the Medfield Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The festivities include the MEMO Tree Lighting in Baxter Park at 5 p.m. The fun continues on Saturday, December 6, with the MEMO Holiday Parade at 1 p.m. in Medfield Center. For a sweet treat, join Holiday Cookie Decorating at UCC Medfield on Monday, December 16, with sessions at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Dover/Sherborn:
Sherborn is the place to be on Saturday, December 6. Start your day at the Sherborn Holiday Market + Visit with Santa from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic Town House. Later, experience a unique farm event with Caroling and Compassionate Cocoa with Cows at Unity Sanctuary Farm at 3 p.m. Dover joins the fun with a Gingerbread House Making event at the Dover Town Library on Friday, December 5, at 3:30 p.m. Don’t miss the charming Powisset Holiday Pig Wagon Lighting at Powisset Farm in Dover on Saturday, December 6, at 4 p.m. Later in the month, get creative at the Winter Wreath Workshop at the Dover Library on Saturday, December 13, at 12 p.m., and wrap your gifts at the Holiday Gift Wrapation at the Sherborn Library on Wednesday, December 17, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Needham:
Needham’s celebrations are diverse and joyful. The town will glow during the Blue Tree Lighting on the Town Common on Saturday, December 6, at 5 p.m. That same evening, enjoy The Secret of Christmas Stories and Songs at Newman Elementary School at 7 p.m. Celebrate Hanukkah with Sing and Dance with Cantor DJ: Chanukah Edition at Temple Beth Shalom on Sunday, December 7, at 4 p.m., or catch Charley and Seymour's Hanukkah Miracle at the Needham Free Public Library on Monday, December 8, at 4 p.m. Families are also invited to a Sensory Santa event at the Bierman Autism Center on Saturday, December 6, at 10 a.m. Get creative with Gingerbread House Decorating (three sessions) at the Rosemary Recreation Complex on Saturday, December 13, beginning at 9 a.m.
Walpole:
Walpole offers a full slate of holiday cheer. Find unique gifts at the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market) at the Bolyston Schul-Verein, starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. Meet the big man himself at the Walpole Mall Santa Meet and Greet on Friday, December 5, at 4 p.m. The weekend continues with the Blessed Sacrament School Christmas Festival at 9 a.m. and the JWCW Festival of Trees at the Council on Aging on Sunday, December 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t miss the dazzling Norfolk Aggie Holiday Drive-Through on Friday, December 12, at 5 p.m. For a more relaxed pace, enjoy the Senior Moments Holiday Concert at the Walpole Public Library on Saturday, December 13, at 1 p.m., or the Wrap & Yap Social on Monday, December 15, at 6 p.m. The Annual Southridge Christmas Event at Southridge Farm and Nursery is also not to be missed.
Westwood:
Westwood’s Annual Holiday Walk About takes over the town center on Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Capture the perfect family photo at Winter Photos with Santa and Elsa at the Westwood Council on Aging that same day at 9:30 a.m. The Westwood Public Library is a hub of activity with Year in Review Trivia Night on Monday, December 8, at 7 p.m., a Holiday Book Swap on Tuesday, December 9, at 7 p.m., and an Interactive Movie: The Muppet Christmas Carol on Sunday, December 20, at 1 p.m. For the kids, head to Holiday Crafts at Deerfield Elementary School on Monday, December 15, at 3:45 p.m. Welcome the season at the Winter Solstice Celebration at Hale Education on Thursday, December 18, at 5 p.m.
