In a cold and wet game attended by over 1,000 fans, Xaverian Brothers High School (XBHS) edged out Needham 14-7 in a hard-fought matchup at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, December 5. Xaverian struck first with a long touchdown pass on the opening drive, followed by a successful PAT, ending the first quarter up 7-0. They extended their lead in the second quarter with a rushing touchdown and another PAT, leading 14-0 at halftime.
Needham showed resilience in the third quarter, narrowing the gap with a touchdown pass and a successful extra point to make it 14-7. Despite their efforts, including an interception to halt a Xaverian drive, Needham couldn’t close the gap in the fourth quarter.
The game featured impressive plays from both teams and showcased Xaverian’s ability to capitalize on turnovers and maintain their lead. The cold, wet conditions added to the intensity, making it a memorable contest for fans and players alike.
