HTW’s holiday bucket list

As the holiday season unfolds, a sense of magic and joy permeates the air. December brings about feelings of merriment and delight, as well as a strong desire to revel in the spirit of the holidays. There is no better way to engage in the holiday season than to craft memories with your family by engaging in an array of activities throughout the month. 

There will be an array of opportunities to make memories with your family and foster a sense of holiday magic. Starting at 1pm on Saturday, December 7th, join MEMO members and community groups in downtown Medfield for their annual Holiday Parade, featuring the Medfield Girl Scout troops, the Medfield Fire Department along with the High School Marching Band, Boy Scouts, dance troupes, and floats, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus on Santa’s sleigh. 

If you’re hungry, you’re welcome to join your neighbors for a fun pancake breakfast with Santa, activities for children and photo opportunities on Saturday, December 7th at Sherborn 1858 Town House. The breakfast will run from 9am to 12pm.

The Needham Women’s Club will host their annual Holiday Home Tour, including homeowners and neighborhoods who decorate their homes, porches, and yards with lights, greenery, and holiday decorations to indulge the town in the spirit of the season. Opening Night will be December 10th at 5:00pm. A map of the route will be available online at NeedhamWomensClub.org.

The Junior Woman's Club of Walpole will host the 4th annual Festival of Trees with a very special guest, Santa Claus. The entire community is invited to join for this festive and fun holiday event at the Walpole Cooperative South Street Center. The Festival of Trees showcases decorated trees donated by local organizations, individuals, and businesses.

The Dover Town Library will be hosting multiple sessions for their annual Ginger Bread House Building program. The sessions include Tuesday, December 10 at 3:30pm,  Thursday, December 12 at 3:30pm, Saturday, December 14 at 11am, and two sessions on Saturday, December 21 at 12pm and 1pm for teens and adults. 

The Bierman Autism Center in Needham will host a free sensory friendly Santa event for the special needs community from 10am to 12pm.They’ll be offering sensory-friendly Santa photos, cooking decorating, and winter themed games. It will foster a supportive environment for children on the spectrum to get into the holiday spirit.

Folks of all ages are welcome to come to Hale Education in Westwood from 5pm tp 7pm to celebrate the first day of winter and the variety of holidays celebrated this time of year at their annual Winter Solstice celebration! There will be roaring fires, hot cocoa, stores, popcorn, and a family friendly guided hike.

Holiday shopping enthusiasts will find abundant opportunities with the annual Holiday Stroll in Medfield on December 6th, featuring over 30 artists at three indoor sites, food trucks, and live music. Later in the evening, MEMO will hold their annual outdoor treelighting at Baxter Park, delighting people of all ages. On December 7th, Westwood’s Holiday Walkabout returns, offering local artists, artisans, crafters, food, and music at various locations, such as First Baptist Church, the Historical Society’s Fisher School, and The First Parish Church. Sherborn will continue their 350th anniversary celebration with their "Shop Sherborn" Holiday Market at the Sherborn 1858 Town House to support local businesses and crafters this holiday season. Needham Community Council’s annual Council Thrift Holiday Boutique returns this year with hundreds of holiday items are donated throughout the year to The Council Thrift and saved to be on display, including Christmas tree ornaments and Hanukkah decorations. The sale will run from Thursday, December 5th to Saturday, December 7th.

As we immerse ourselves in the holiday festivities and the embrace of winter, these activities beckon us to relish the joyous spirit of the season with family, friends, and the warmth of shared traditions.
