Recently, Swifties of all ages flocked to the Walpole Public Library (WPL) for the ERAs Tour (Walpole Public Library’s Version). The lobby was filled with young girls, from ages 2 to 14, donning their Taylor Swift themed tee-shirts, sweatshirts, cardigans, and friendship bracelets. Once the clock struck, 10:30 AM, the doors of the community room opened up and fans flooded inside to the sound of Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” album.
As fans filtered in, there was a display of children’s books all about the women of the hour: Taylor Swift. Children and their families looked through the variety of books before visiting the variety of crafting stations; attendees were welcomed to make friendship bracelets, a trademark of the ERAs tour, decorate their own “mirrorballs,” in homage to the titular song featured on her Folklore album, as well as decorating their very own paper snakes to show off their big “Reputation.” Various tracks by Swift colored the atmosphere as they played in the background. Children hummed, sang, and danced along as they crafted, while others played with balloons in the middle of the community room. The WPL offered selfie stations, with a polaroid picture themed station in reference to her “1989” album artwork.
After all of the guests had completed their very own friendship bracelets, they were invited to play Taylor Swift themed trivia. The young fans excitedly participated, shouting out the answers to the variety of questions. Then, they moved onto playing music trivia, where children’s librarian Nikki Cataloni played a varied of songs until fans correctly guessed which tune it belonged to; the song selections ranged from tracks off of her most recent album, “Midnights” to tracks from her self-titled, debut album, “Taylor Swift.” Older fans, mothers, and nannies to the younger fans in attendance, excitedly shouted answers aloud to music trivia, especially as the older tracks began playing.
In conclusion, the ERAs Tour at the Walpole Public Library brought together Swifties of all ages for a day filled with crafts, games, and celebrations of Taylor Swift's music. From making friendship bracelets to belting out tunes in music trivia, attendees immersed themselves in the world of their favorite artist, creating memories that will surely last a lifetime.
