The Walpole swim team brimmed with energy and excitement as they embarked on a journey to the Babson College Morse Swimming pool for their second meet of the season against Needham. The Timberwolves achieved new personal records in times and even secured qualifications for states, although they succumbed to Needham with a final score of 48-87.
Throughout the competition, it was palpable how Head Coach Cheryl Cavanaugh radiated enthusiasm and pride while steadfastly supporting each swimmer in their head-to-head heats. Following their races, she greeted them with a smile, offered words of encouragement, and praised their unwavering determination.
Teammates eagerly approached the platform, awaiting their next heats. The room resounded with exuberant cheers as the buzzer signaled the start, and swimmers dove into the water with hearts racing and adrenaline pumping through their veins. Walpole's swim team demonstrated remarkable prowess, leveraging their strengths to set new personal records and contribute valuable points to the match.
Coleman Walsh achieved a personal record in the 50 Freestyle, surpassing his previous time by two seconds, prompting thunderous cheers from the bleachers above as he competed in his heat. Avneesh Shenoy earned a spot in sectionals for the 200 Individual Medley heat, while Avneesh Shenoy, Mayank Shah, Ben Bahm, and Spencer Byerly all secured qualifications for States in the 200 Medley Relay heat. It was evident how diligently the team had prepared for the meet, offering promising insights into the remainder of the season.
