Despite some rain delays, the Dover American Legion put on an amazing Music Festival this past Saturday, June 10th. This family-friendly event included live performances by local bands, craft beers and some delicious food. The bands who performed included Eddy’s Shoe, The M-80s, TBD, Sean Fullerton, and Backwards Hats.
Families could be seen soaking wet yet still with smiling faces as they wiped off rain-soaked chairs in order to further enjoy the music. No matter the weather, attendees were ready to enjoy a fun-filled day listening to local Dover bands.
Michael Kineen, son of American Legion and junior Vice President in charge of fundraising events, mentioned that he had been planning this event for months. While the weather was not totally on their side, Kineen was still thrilled at the turnout and the overall support of the community.
He further discussed, “We do these types of events to raise money for the American Legion. It’s one of our many events, we have fundraisers throughout the year. We like to give back to the community, that is why we make it a free event. We had a little rain delay but we are back on now. We almost called the event off completely, but we wanted everyone to enjoy it for as long as the weather holds off. … This is our big kickoff event. We do this and then the summer is kind of laid back because everyone is usually gone. So then everything usually happens in the fall.”
A Dover native, born and raised, Kineen mentioned just how special the town of Dover is to him, especially the Dover American Legion. He stated, “I’ve been heavily invested in this place since forever. I went to Dover-Sherborn High School, I am a Doverite. My father was a veteran and I just love working for these guys.”
Overall, this Music Fest was a huge success and allowed the Dover community to come together to enjoy a day of music and fun!
