Dan Shaugnessy to appear at WPL

Local sports writer Dan Shaugnessy will make his sixth appearance in Walpole, sponsored as always by The Friends of the Walpole Public Library. On Thursday evening, April 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the Walpole Public Library, 143 School Street, he'll talk about his latest book. All are welcome to attend, free of charge.

Released just a few moths ago, 'Wish It Lasted Forever: Life with the Larry Bird Celtics' pays tribute to a still fondly recalled span in NBA history and to a team that just may have been the league’s best ever. Through a mixture of decades-honed craft and first-hand recollection, Shaughnessy enables readers to relive again the singularity of those times and that team. The book colorfully captures the Boston Celtics 1980s dynasty during an era in professional sports and journalism long gone, as told by Shaughnessy who covered the Celtics as the Globe’s beat reporter from 1982 to 1986.

Dan Shaughnessy is a sports columnist and associate editor for 'The Boston Globe', as well as the 'New York Times' bestselling coauthor of 'Francona' and author of 'The Curse of the Bambino'. When not writing, Mr. Shaughnessy can often be found at a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. He lives with his family in Boston.
