Needham extends free meter through 2020

The Needham Select Board has voted to extend the free parking meter program throughout town during the remainder of 2020. This program provides free parking throughout town so that patrons can enjoy local businesses and shop, without worrying about the cost of a parking meter.

"It is our hope that by extending the free meter program for the rest of the year, we can make it easier for the public to visit the many great businesses we have in Town during a time when they need it the most," said Select Board member Marianne Cooley in a statement published on September 23.

The program began in the summer to encourage people to visit local businesses, many of which were impacted by COVID-19. In order to ensure that metered spaces remain open for shoppers and dinner, Needham will be strictly enforcing a two-hour parking limit for free meter spaces.
