In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Newton-Wellesley Hospital has established the NWH COVID-19 Fund, which will support the hospital’s ongoing efforts to ensure the health and safety of the community during this challenging time. All gifts to this fund will be directed toward care for those affected by COVID-19; measures to contain its spread; support for Newton-Wellesley’s clinicians and staff, many of whom are community members themselves; and recovery efforts following the pandemic.
Newton-Wellesley, in collaboration with leaders from across Mass General Brigham, is coordinating with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state and local public health officials to closely monitor the pandemic’s spread, properly plan for the impact in surrounding communities and implement strategies to provide the highest level of care to patients. Hundreds of hospital employees are battling this unique threat on the front lines, shift after shift, and playing a significant role in our state’s effort to beat back the pandemic’s advance.
“This is a pandemic of unprecedented magnitude in our lifetimes, requiring herculean responses faithfully and heroically carried out by Newton-Wellesley’s exceptional employees,” said Chief Quality and Experience Officer Jodi Larson, MD. “The implications of this crisis will be far-reaching, impacting our hospital’s operational areas from staffing to supplies to finances. We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of support we have already received from community members, and we are calling on our neighbors to support us and each other during this critical time of need.”
The Fund will help supplement Newton-Wellesley’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care while providing hospital leadership with the ability to quickly address the most pressing, immediate issues related to the pandemic.
