Members of the community can check out the process of converting a log from its rounded, natural form into lumber using primarily an axe this coming Sunday, August 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 345 Main Street. Admission is free.
Attendees will be guided by Duane Houghton, a preservation/restoration carpenter, while he uses his antique tools in the forgotten art of hewing. He’ll be demonstrating this technique throughout the afternoon hours.
