It was quite the year for Dover-Sherborn’s Cameron Raycroft and DS athletics in general. First, the DS boys took home the school’s first-ever Division III state championship in basketball this past winter, with Roycroft serving as one of the Raiders’ centerpieces on the offensive end as a small forward.
Two weeks ago, the DS boys lacrosse team captured the Division III state championship with a 7-4 victory over Grafton. As was the case with the basketball title, Roycroft had a ton to do with the Raiders hoisting their second state championship trophy this academic year - but this time from the defensive side as Dover-Sherborn’s top shutdown defensive pole.
This past week, the two-sport star and state champion Roycroft was named the Globe’s Division III Player of the Year, a fitting end to an outstanding career on the hardwood and on the lacrosse field. Raycroft was also named TVL Small MVP.
“Obviously, it means a lot to get that type of recognition on top of winning states with all my teammates and friends,” said a humbled Roycroft. “Its pretty awesome to see all the hard work that I put in throughout the year pay off, and it’s very special that I’m able to say that I went out on top with that award and with my teammates by winning states.”
