Carolyn Waters playing Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse

The Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse returns at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 26 North Street, Medfield. This month’s Coffeehouse will feature Carolyn Waters. The theme for the evening is "Coming Into Me."

Carolyn Waters is a performing and singing songwriter who fuses blues/roots/folk and other musical genres into a unique unforgettable blend of songs and sounds. She can belt out barrelhouse and juke-joint blues, or fuse them with a pinch of gospel and roots. Carolyn has been featured in the Boston Blues Society’s Ladies of the Blues Events, sharing the stage with the late great Shirley “Regal Queen of the Blues” Lewis, Lydia Warren, Lisa Marie and Diane Blue, to name a few. She has performed at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, Serendipity, Beatniks, and many other venues in New England, New York, Maryland and Virginia.

Typically held on the last Saturday of every month (except for this month's edition, which will be held on the fourth Saturday), the Expresso Yourself Coffeehouse is an opportunity for spoken word artists to share their poetry, stories, and songs. Come and join in the fun, either to enjoy as an audience member or to participate. Open mic readers have five minutes to share. Original or non-original poetry, stories, performance art, music or songs welcome. Sticking to theme encouraged. Teens and adults welcome. Refreshments from Starbucks are served. Medfield TV films the event and posts it to YouTube. There is a $5 suggested donation ($3 for students).
