Feehan Valedictorian, Salutatorian from Walpole

Bishop Feehan High School Principal Sean Kane has announced the students ranked in the top two positions of the Class of 2017, and both are from Walpole.

Valedictorian Kathryn Sachs is the daughter of Dr. Henry Sachs and Dr. Teresa Van Buren. Kathryn and her family are members of Blessed Sacrament parish. Sachs has established an outstanding record of scholastic achievements, leadership, athletic accomplishments and community activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the Math, Science, History, Spanish and English Honor Societies. Her course load throughout high school has been the most rigorous available, including advanced placements and honors level classes. As a junior, Sachs was awarded the Harvard Book Award; an award given to a student who exemplifies excellence in scholarship and high character combined with achievement in other fields.

In the fall, Kathryn will be attending Dartmouth College.

Salutatorian Kathleen Garrity is the daughter of Michael and Mary Garrity. The Garrity family are members of Blessed Sacrament parish. Garrity manages to coordinate academic work, athletics, school activities, and community service while maintaining excellent grades. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as a member of the Art, English, Math, Science and Spanish Honor Societies. She serves as treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society this year, and has earned silver medals on the National Spanish exam since her freshman year. Garrity was awarded as a National Merit Commended student this fall.

She will be furthering her education at Boston College this fall.
