With a 76-55 win against Norton on Monday night, sweeping the season series against the Lancers, the Medfield High boys’ basketball team held onto its lead in the Tri-Valley League heading into Wednesday’s meeting with rival Westwood.

Monday’s victory improved Big Blue to 12-2 on the season and 10-1 in the TVL. Medfield’s only defeat was to Holliston back on Jan. 11. Big Blue has won five straight since that defeat and will have the chance to avenge that loss on the road on Feb. 5.

Westwood will enter Wednesday’s game having won three straight and the Wolverines are 9-2 in the TVL. Medfield won the first meeting 63-61 in an overtime classic.

Earlier this season, Medfield coach Herb Grace was asked who were the teams to beat in the TVL this season and he mentioned the Wolverines and the Panthers, but he also added, “There’s a lot of good teams, but we’re one of them.”

As the regular season heads into the final stretch, Grace’s words seem prophetic as Big Blue continues to set the pace in the league.
