Library presenting Art Makers class

On Tuesday, January 16, at 4:00 p.m. the Children’s Department of the Needham Free Public Library, 1139 Highland Avenue, will be hosting an Art Makers class for children ages 5 and up. With inspiration from the book "Monsters Love Colors" by Mike Austin, local artist Nicole Donson will lead a drop-in art and craft activity in the library’s STEAM Center. After reading the book aloud, children will create a mixed media painting of monsters using tempera paints, markers, crayons, colored construction paper, watercolor paints and tissue paper.

Nicole Donson has been teaching art and crafts to children for more than fifteen years at community education programs and after school programs. She manages an art and crafts education program called Nicole’s Art Spot at her art studio at Gorse Mill Studios, offering classes and individual instruction to children in an array of art and craft media. She has also painted on silk with dyes for more than twenty years and creates unique one of a kind scarves, clothing and fine art. She sells her work at juried art festivals throughout the Boston area and several art galleries. For more information about Nicole Donson, visit www.nicolesartspot.com or www.silkendreams.com.

Parents are encouraged to attend the workshop with their children, and are asked to arrive on time. Events are subject to change. For more information, call the Children’s Library at (781-455-7559, x204).
