Junior Cheerleaders take show on road

On Saturday October 15, Needham Junior Cheerleading participated in the Bay State/Dual/Tri 2016 Cheerleading competition at Bellingham High School.

Needham Jr Rockets A, B and C squads captured 1st place titles in their respective divisions. Needham Jr Rockets E1 squad captured the 2nd place title.

The 2nd and 3rd grade Needham Jr. Rockets E2 squad exhibited for the first time, were extremely successful and looked incredible.

A squad competed in the Large 14U Red Division. The 26 members of the squad are: Caroline Coyle, Sydney Resnick, Lindsey Filoon, Megan Connelly, Reese Murphy, Hannah Reservitz, Gillian Bagshaw, Allison Payne, Danielle Merken, Kaitlyn St. Peters, Megan Hesser, Nava Minaie, Shermaria Williams, Sarah Jensen, Josephine McGillicuddy, Sarah Tarlin, Theresa Hagerott, Isabelle Garand, Francine Tennis, Grace Meade, Anne Karavolas, Jillian Tobasky, Fiona McGroddy, Chloe Wollins, Caroline Brady, and Sabrina Shtein.

The team is coached by Eileen Hagerott, Jennifer Meade and Liz Mettler.

High school student demonstrators are Stephanie Wilson, Nicole Fasciano, Erin Payne, Hannah McGillicuddy, Rita Curley and Regan Licht.

B squad competed in the Large 14U Blue Division. The 19 members of the squad are: Noa Levine, Bridget Baker, Julie Kalis, Emma Fleck, Katherine Spezzano, Valerie O’Donovan, Camille Skala, Olivia Guagliano, Sadie Stedman, Libby McCourt, Kristina Pisano, Ashley Monheimer, Marina Rutter, Sophia Goodrow, Kerry Walsh, Sophia Seti, Autumn Berke, Sage Dephoure, and Elizabeth Clancy.

The team is coached by Lauren Levine, Katie Pisano, Alicia Stedman and Sheri Monheimer.
High school student demonstrators are Perry Licht, Emily Stedman, Deidre Morley, Kim Manning, Madeline Doherty, and Jenna Sandler.

Both A and B squads will be moving on to the State Competition being held on November 5 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. If A squad finishes first, second, or third at this competition, they will move on to Regionals in November, where they will have a shot at winning a spot in the Nationals Competition held in Florida in December.

“It was another successful year for all our Needham squads,” said Lesley Sugarman, Needham Jr. Cheer Coordinator. “Each and every one of our squads performed show-stopping routines. A great deal of work and practice goes in to preparing for this. All of our squads should be proud of what they were able to accomplish. It was absolutely phenomenal to watch.”
