The Westwood Young Women’s Club (WYWC) hosted its second annual town-wide yard sale on October 14. With 46 houses participating, the club raised $1,170 in donations to help maintain the Westwood Tot Lot and School Street Playground over the coming year.
For a donation of $25, each participating household was given a spot on the official yard sale map, advertising in advance of the event, and pre-arranged pickup of leftover items at the end of the event. Each participant was invited to keep the proceeds of their individual sales.
“The Westwood Young Women’s Club has been committed to assisting with the ongoing maintenance of the School Street Playground since the playground’s inception,” says member Rachel Grof. “Periodic assessments of the playground are conducted to identify needs relating to the upkeep of its safety systems and equipment, and events like our annual yard sale greatly benefit that work.”
The Westwood Young Women’s Club, a community of local women focused on enriching the town of Westwood, has also committed to assisting the Westwood Lions Club with their fundraising efforts to maintain and update the Tot Lot.
“There was a lot of buzz around this year’s yard sale, and we received positive feedback from participants,” adds Westwood Young Women’s Club member Kate Scales. “When the community comes together in this way, everyone benefits.”
