WYWC selling calendars for MDA

The Westwood Young Women’s Club has partnered with the town’s fire department to produce a 2018 calendar featuring members of the department. Calendars may be purchased for $25, and all proceeds go to the Massachusetts chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

“This was our first time collaborating on a calendar,” says Westwood Young Women’s Club President Kim Chase. “We wanted to celebrate and acknowledge our local firefighters who risk their lives and take care of our community every day, while also contributing to an important charitable cause.”

Members of the Westwood Young Women’s Club worked with calendar sponsor ARCH Orthodontics, local photographer Rick Bern, Deputy Fire Chief Michael Reardon and firefighter Michael Narciso to coordinate a photoshoot and print the calendar.

“All of the firefighters were amazingly kind, accommodating and so extraordinarily humble during the photoshoot,” says Chase. “In their job, they never know what each day will bring. The fun they had making the calendar was heartwarming, and they are truly heroes.”

Calendars are available for purchase at the new Islington fire station on Washington Street or by contacting Chase at [email protected]. A sample calendar is available for viewing at the Westwood Post Office on High Street.

“I encourage all residents to visit the fire station and bring donuts, cupcakes, pizza—anything to show thanks to the amazing firemen who participated in this project,” says Chase. “And of course, while there, purchase a calendar. They make great holiday gifts, and what better way to celebrate such an integral part of our town than by purchasing a calendar and supporting a local charity.”
