Townwide Food Drive on November 15th

The Westwood Cub Scout Troops will once again be hosting their annual “Scouting For Food” Drive to benefit the Westwood Food Pantry on Saturday, November 15th. All residents are encouraged to participate in this drive that stocks the food pantry’s shelves for the coming months.

Over the weekend of November 8/9th members of the Cub Scouts will be heading out in their neighborhoods distributing flyers about the drive. If you receive a flyer at your door and would like to participate, please package up your non-perishable donations and leave them outside your front door by 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th. The scouts will stop by and pick them up.

If you don’t receive a flyer, plan on stopping by the Thurston Middle School Cafeteria 850 High Street on Saturday, November 16th between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for curbside drop off of non-perishable donations. Volunteers will be on-hand to unload your car and accept your donations.

The most needed items are canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna and chicken, soup, baked beans, condiments, salad dressings, cookies, crackers, peanut butter and jelly, sugar, flour, black tea, pancake and cake mixes, pasta and pasta sauce, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, paper towels, toilet paper.

Donations of food are also always accepted at the Westwood Food Pantry bin near the checkout area at Roche Bros in Westwood, and at the Westwood Council On Aging at 60 Nahatan Street during business hours. Currently, there are also collection bins at the Westwood Public Main Library on High Street and the Islington Branch at 273 Washington Street

The Westwood Food Pantry needs financial assistance as well. Monetary donations to the Westwood Food Pantry are 100% tax deductible and are greatly appreciated! For more information please visit www.westwoodfoodpantry.org.
