On July 14, from 6 to 7 pm, in the first event of their free Summer Concert Series focusing on children’s music, the Westwood Young Women’s Club presented the T. S. I Love You band. The concert was sponsored by Miss Joslyn’s Dance and Dedham Savings, who both had booths at the concert.

Before the concert started, a large crowd of parents and children assembled on the grassy lawn surrounding the gazebo. Pizza and ice cream were offered for sale, and kids and parents lined up for it. A Diaper Circle collected and redistributed new, opened, or loose diapers for families in need.

The Westwood Public Library’s new Bookmobile was also on hand, offering books for both children and adults. The Bookmobile was formerly a Council on Aging van that was being put out of service. The Council on Aging gave the van to the library, which then refitted it with shelves and lighting, making it a perfect vehicle for bringing books to gatherings in the community. The librarians were set up to look up people’s Minuteman accounts and allow them to take out books on the spot.

At 6 pm, the highly anticipated T.S. I Love You began their performance of fun and beloved Taylor Swift hits. Brenda rallied the crowd and energetically sang Swift’s songs, backed up by Jake on bass, Thom on guitar and backing vocals, and Tom on drums. Festively dressed children crowded around the stage to listen, sing, and dance with smiles and enthusiasm, while others visited the booths, sat with their parents, or checked out the Bookmobile.

Congratulations to the Westwood Young Women’s Club for creating such a fun summertime event for families to gather, listen and dance to music, and visit with friends. Occurring at a time of day when families naturally gather for dinner, it was convenient to attend, and the duration of one hour was perfect for small children.

You may wish to put the next two performances in the Summer Concert Series on your calendar. On July 21, Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys will entertain with their highly interactive and energetic act, featuring group singing and movement, and, on July 28, the ever-popular Stacey Peasley Band will wrap up the 2025 summer series with their engaging, inspiring, and entertaining music that is beloved in the area.
