Quilting community at WPL

Hometown Weekly Reporter

The Westwood Quilters are a group of dedicated and talented quilters who meet once a month at the Westwood Public Library. They gather on the fourth Monday of every month to stitch and swap ideas on what project to start next.

This group strives to help everyone on their quilting journeys, though they aren’t necessarily teachers. They love to help each other figure out what would make a project better or where to go next with a design. They call these meetings “Sit and Stitch,” where they chat and do exactly that. Everyone brings what they are currently working on or is looking to start, and they work and chat for a few hours.

The community supports quilters of all levels and loves to suggest new techniques to each other. They bring magazines stocked with ideas to share around and consult while picking the next projects and share photos that remind them of another member. They swap stories of what they have made over the past month and who they gifted quilts to.

Once everyone has settled into working, members walk the table and ask questions about their projects and techniques. Many offer to demonstrate how they accomplished their stitches and their new works in progress. The group supports everyone and loves to see everyone’s different versions of quilting.

This is a great way to get work done for those looking for motivation or just looking for other people who quilt. The quilters welcome everyone with open arms and enjoy discussing how people got into the craft and what they like to make. The group is a great resource for local quilters and those who want to share their knowledge.

The Westwood Quilters are a supportive and energetic group who welcome everyone interested in the craft. They enjoy showing off their breathtaking creations and helping other members figure out where a project should go next. There is no shortage of support for those lost on a project or looking for a new design to start. For more information or to join the mailing list reach out to [email protected]
