Westwood rang in the end of summer with its Summer Block Party. Hosted at University Crossing this celebration was the perfect send-off to summer vacation and welcomed in the new school year. This bash was also a donation drive for School on Wheels, MA which aims to help underprivileged kids.

This was a great family-friendly event filled with fun for all ages. To entertain children there was a large string obstacle course kids were climbing through, bouncing horses, hula hoops, balance beams and so much more. There was no shortage of fun to be had. A live DJ was spinning the most popular songs of the summer, giving kids a chance to dance out all the back to school jitters.

Fun for older children and adults came through free ice cream and airbrush tattoos. While younger people also enjoyed these treats, they were a massive hit with the older crowd. There were also vendors from local businesses offering treats and games to the crowd including frisbees that were thrown around the party. Countless families joined in on all the fun available and partied the afternoon away.

Beyond just a super fun celebration, the End of Summer Block Party is a school supply donation drive. New and unused supplies of all kinds were being gathered for School on Wheels, an organization striving to help homeless children succeed in education. Homeless children and those facing poverty struggle during school to afford supplies and graduate, as many drop out. School on Wheels strives to help give these children the supplies and tutoring they need to succeed. This charity has helped countless children find their footing and thrive in educational spaces.

The Westwood End of Summer Block Party was a wonderful celebration to welcome in the school year. Between the upbeat music, fun activities and donation drive there was something for everyone. Everyone was welcomed to celebrate summer winding down and the school year kicking off and helping out underprivileged kids. It’s never too late to donate to School on Wheels, more information can be found on their website https://www.sowma.org/.
