On Tuesday, October 17, Kit Ripley, a missionary for American Baptist International Ministries, will be speaking at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, located at 808 High Street. The public is invited to attend a potluck supper at 6:00 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall, which will be followed by her presentation about her work in northern Thailand.
Ms. Ripley’s primary ministry involvement is with the New Life Center Foundation (NLCF) in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The NLCF works with tribal minority girls who are survivors of labor exploitation, sexual abuse, domestic violence and/or human trafficking, and girls who are at risk for exploitation and abuse. Her work there includes teaching therapeutic art classes, guest relations, staff development and training, report writing and administration. Additionally, she leads therapeutic art workshops, and art and prayer retreats for Christian workers in Asia through the ministry of the Imago Art Studio. She plans to return to Thailand in January 2018.
No reservations for the supper are required. Those attending are invited to provide a potluck dish to share with others. There is no charge for the supper and presentation, but a free-will offering will be taken to help support Ms. Ripley’s ministry. Further information can be obtained from the church office at (781-461-1730).
