Glow Golf shines bright in Islington

Children, teens, and their families gathered at the Islington Branch of the Westwood Public Library (WPL) to play some Glow Golf. This unique LED  mini golf course was provided by One Up Games - On The Go located in Plainville, MA.

Co-Owner/Manager of One Up Games, Peter Dekant, was seen welcoming those into Wentworth Hall of the Islington Branch and explaining how the game works. Upon entrance into the room, golf clubs, light-up balls, score cards and pencils were provided to each participant.

The course consisted of nine different holes that presented their own unique “challenges.” Dekant pointed out that most participants have a harder time going through Hole 4 due to having to hit the ball up a small “hill” into the hole. This definitely proved to be true as families tried their hardest to hit their ball into one of the two holes on this “hill.”

Dekant further explained that they can additionally provide an 18 hole course depending on the size of the library/space itself. As a whole, they partner with over 300 libraries, from New Hampshire all the way down to North Carolina, to bring not only mini golf but also other mobile games to these libraries. “We do video game events,” Dekant stated, “open game play, virtual reality, things like that, to try and bring the community together. We also do tournaments at an amateur level for the kids and they absolutely love it. We are all gamers ourselves at One Up Games so we try to give each community the best experience that we can. It can be so much fun for gamers since there are so many of them out there. Rather than stay home and play games, we want to be able to provide a place where they can go out and game with other fellow gamers.”

All attendees that filed in throughout the afternoon were thrilled with the experience, smiling from ear to ear the entire time. With the main lights in the room off, the LED course and balls truly made the space shine bright. As everyone played through the course, music could be heard playing and some participants singing along to the songs.
