Returning for its eighth year, Hale Education in Westwood hosted a Fall Family Scavenger Hunt this past Friday, November 24th. The chilly and windy weather did not stop families and friends from gathering together on the trails to find some treasure!

This all day event included a self guided scavenger hunt for all to come and enjoy. When arriving at the starting point, there were an array of signs that provided all the information everyone would need for the day. In order to get started, there were four easy steps for participants to follow.

Step one encouraged participants to register their group in order to potentially win one to three big prizes at the end. First prize was their Trailbreakers Pre-Camp Program for one camper, a value of $725. Second prize was their Family & Community Program Night & Weekend Session for an entire household, valued at $600. Third prize was their Shipwreck Summer Birthday Party for up to twenty kids, valued at $400.

Once you were registered, the second step was to prepare themselves for the day. Those at Hale Education gave a friendly reminder to bring plenty of water, snacks, and weather-appropriate layers for the hunt since it would definitely be an active day.

The third step was to take a scavenger map that they had printed out for everyone. This map showed the location of the seven different treasure boxes participants would find on their adventure. Each box included an activity for little ones to complete. Once they had finished the activity, participants would be collecting stamps that represented each accomplishment. There were even some cool prizes along the way in which everyone was welcome to take one, but they needed to make sure to leave the rest for other fellow adventurers!

The fourth and final step to begin their journey included finding the first box, which was located in the same field as the welcome point. At this box, the activity invited those to take a team photo at their photo booth that was set up right beside it. The prize with this box included a notebook that they could bring with them along their hunt to keep their collected stamps all together.

Crowds of participants filtered through Hale Education all day, everyone excited to hunt for some fun prizes. There was no lack of smiles on all the kiddos faces as they came to each treasure box. It can be said with ease that many hope Hale continues this scavenger hunt for years to come!
