On Wednesday, Feb. 15, more than 100 young scientists ranging from kindergartners to 5th graders converged on Deerfield Elementary School’s science fair. A wide range of topics were covered the in the experiments.
All of the students designed posters about their experiments and were awarded ribbons by Mentor Scientists (parent volunteers). They were required to explain and include the information from the experiment checklist: introduction (a written general description of the project), hypothesis (a “guess” about the outcome of the project), materials used in experiment, procedures (the steps taken in conducting the experiment), results, and conclusion (comparing the hypothesis to actual results).
