During the worship service on December 4, the First Baptist Church of Westwood formally presented Christine Keddy with a Pre-Ordination License to Preach. This is the first step on the path to ordination in the American Baptist Churches, USA. The Rev. Dr. Stephanie Salinas, Pastor at First Baptist, says that she and the congregation look forward with great pleasure to working with Keddy during the ordination process.
In 2015, Keddy received a Master of Divinity Studies degree magna cum laude from Bethel Seminary of the East in Auburn, MA. Earlier this fall, she was hired as a part-time Associate Minister for Family Education and Outreach at First Baptist. One of her first projects was to create and run a three-session introductory cooking class for young teens. The class was held on early release Wednesdays starting in November and was well attended.
Keddy received her Bachelors degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and took courses toward a Masters degree in Education at Bridgewater State College. Certified by the Massachusetts Office of Early Education and Child Care, she has been a lead teacher and administrator in Preschool and Pre-K programs in Needham and Medfield for a number of years. Active members of the First Baptist congregation, Keddy and her husband, Allan, reside in Canton.
