On August 21, Chris Hancock,a resident of Westwood, will run the 7-mile Falmouth Road Race for the 17th time to benefit The Boston House, a no-cost home away from home for children with cancer and their families.
Chris has personally raised over $125,000 for Boston House going into this year, and in 2022, he has already broken his personal annual record, with almost $22,000 to date. As of July 8, he is the third highest individual fundraiser among the nearly 3,500 participants in the ASICS Falmouth Road Race Numbers for Nonprofits program. Chris, one of nine siblings, grew up in Brockton and most of his family still lives in the area. His parents were among The Boston House’s founders, and his siblings, as well as his mother, wife, daughters and nieces and nephews participate in the race annually or volunteer for The Boston House in some other way as well.
Since 1979. The Boston House, located at 229 Kent Street in Brookline, has provided a home away from home for children with cancer and their families to stay while they seek treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. So much more than a place to stay, The House offers a respite from hospital life, a comfortable home like setting, and a community of support.
