Winter Wednesday bringing fish to library

[ccfic caption-text format="plaintext"]

On January 31, kids ages 5-10 are invited to explore “Fantastical Fish and Where to Find Them: Watercolors of Tropical Fish by Wellesley’s Sherman Denton.”

While his brothers preferred collecting butterflies, Sherman Denton was entranced by fish. Denton traveled around the globe at the turn of the twentieth century to search out and paint exotic fish. Children are invited to create their own watercolor of a fish or whatever else inspires them.

The Wellesley Historical Society and the Wellesley Free Library are offering Winter Wednesdays through February 14. The programs take place in the children's room of the main library from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children are encouraged to drop in any time; there is no need to register and no admission fee.

Winter Wednesdays is a series of weekly programs for children ages 5-10, each one featuring a different historical topic. Children learn history in a hands-on way, using arts and crafts, games, and other fun activities.
