Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) has expanded into a newly renovated classroom and rehearsal space at the Wellesley Community Center. WTP is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that has provided youth performing arts education, summer camps and community outreach programs in Wellesley for over five years.

The Wellesley Community Center, the largest common civic organization in town, is a private 501 (c)(3), is home to a growing list of many private, public and town-wide organizations including the The Rotary Club, The Girl and Boy Scouts of Wellesley, and many more.

Starting in October, Wellesley Theatre Project will expand its footprint at the Community Center with a total of three newly renovated Studios. WTP will use the Wellesley Theatre Project Studios at the Wellesley Community Center for all of its offerings, including performing arts classes, small scale productions, and one-week summer camps. Large cast productions will continue to be presented at larger local venues - among them will be “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure, Jr.” at Babson College’s Sorenson Center this November 17-19.

Wellesley Theatre Project will hold an Open House and “Hamiltunes: An American Singalong” party to celebrate on Saturday, October 14, from 3-6 p.m. (Hamiltunes: An American Singalong will begin at 4pm). “Hamiltunes: An American Singalong” is is an official licensed event from the producers of the Tony-Award winning musical, “Hamilton.” Attendees will get to sing along to official instrumental tracks of the entire show.

Executive Director Hillary Drew states: “We are thrilled to continue our growth as an organization with our move to the Wellesley Theatre Project Studios at the Wellesley Community Center. This move allows more space for our students and community to create, learn, and cultivate their craft as Citizen Artists.”

The Wellesley Community Center [WCC] is located at 219 Washington Street at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 16. The WCC’s charter, established in 1977, is to found a common platform for all types of social and civic events by providing meeting space for the benefit of the community.

Wellesley Theatre Project is an arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK - 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps.
