Art by Frederick Kubitz

Frederick (Fritz) Kubitz started his professional life as an architect, winning several awards. To relax and take a break from his professional work, he began painting, primarily in watercolor and in oils, which he now pursues full time. His architectural sense led him to develop a keen eye for the structure and aesthetics of buildings, which he often incorporates into his paintings, especially scenes of Boston. In his paintings, he also exudes a love of the sea and coastlines, as featured in scenes throughout New England. His paintings are precise and controlled while at the same time showing a bold and personal style, and his use of light draws the viewer into paintings that are both dramatic and emotional.

Attesting to the excellence of his art, his work is represented in many corporate and private collections, and he has been the recipient of prizes and awards too numerous to mention (e.g., from the American Watercolor Society International Exhibition, New England Watercolor Society, Academic Artists Association, and Guild of Boston Artists). His work has also been published in several magazines and books.

He is a member of the American Watercolor Society, Guild of Boston Artists, New England Watercolor Society, American Society of Marine Artists, and Wellesley Society of Artists (as well as being its past president).
