Wellesley resident Angela Liu, a junior student at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School, has earned a National Gold Medal in the 2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
Liu was honored for her oil painting, “Ardent Aspiration.” The work is based on Liu’s community service in China last summer, and was selected from the winners to be displayed in multiple art museums for two years, including the one in the U.S Department of Education and the President’s Committee on the Arts & the Humanities.
Last year, another oil painting of Liu’s earned a Gold Key and is still on display in the US Capitol.
