Wellesley gets jubilant

Local residents were out in full force on Saturday to take part in the Wellesley Square Merchants’ Association’s annual July Jubilation event. July Jubilation, which has now been taking place for a quarter century, presents an opportunity for shoppers and their families to appreciate the wares of over sixty area vendors in a sidewalk sale setting.

It goes far beyond that, though.

As evidenced by the profusion of music, tantalizing scents wafting through the air, and smiling children, July Jubilation is as much a small-town carnival as it is a shopping opportunity. As discerning visitors diligently scanned the offerings of Wellesley’s myriad merchants, younger members of their families had their heads turned by more light-hearted fare. A petting zoo, dunk tank, dance and martial arts displays, face painting, touch-a-truck, jugglers, and stilt walkers, among others, made certain that July Jubilation would remain memorable not only for the shoppers on Wellesley Square, but for their pint-sized friends, as well.
