On Sunday, November 5, at 3 p.m., the Wellesley Chamber Players will be celebrating the opening of its third season with its first concert at Beveridge Hall on the Dana Hall School campus in Wellesley. This concert is one of four concerts during the year, all of which will be performed at Beveridge Hall.
The Wellesley Chamber Players is a group of internationally acclaimed classical musicians who live in Boston and Wellesley. They want to share their love for chamber music with the people of Wellesley and the neighboring communities.
The performing artists for the November 5 concert are Jayoung Kim, Yoojin Jang, Zhanbo Zheng and Jonathan Butler. The Wellesley Chamber Players announced its newest member, Yoojin Jang, who has won top prizes at Sendai, Indianapolis and the Michael Hill International Violin Competitions. Zhanbo Zheng and Jonathan Butler, returning to Wellesley for the second season, and Jayoung Kim, artistic director and founder, have won top prizes at Primrose, Amsterdam Cello Biennale, Jean Françaix, Villa de Llanes International Competitions and have performed around the world. Jayoung Kim teaches piano at Dana Hall School.
Refreshments of wine, fruit, cheese and homemade cookies will be served following the program, providing the opportunity to meet the performers. The suggested donation is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students, to help with the cost of the concert series. Attendees can pay at the door and there is open seating. Larger groups wishing to be seated together should email their request to the Chamber Players.
In addition to the concerts this year (December 10, March 4 and May 13), the Wellesley Chamber Players will hold a young artist chamber competition for students ages 13-18 on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Dana Hall School of Music, Wellesley. The winner will perform with the Wellesley Chamber Players in their final concert on Sunday, May 13.
