The BRYT program returns to Wellesley Community Center this month. The BRYT transition/bridge programs support students both academically and emotionally who have missed school for a medical or mental health reason or are in school but having a difficult time. The programs provide a place in the school for them to be as they work on make-up work and get the support they need to return to their classes, it gives them a set of people to work with them during this critical period of time, and provides them with a mix of academic support, family support, clinical support and care coordination.
The model has now been replicated in 50 schools across Massachusetts. The meeting at the Wellesley Community Center is a learning session for the academic coordinators from the programs. Adam Diliberto, the academic coordinator from the Bridge Program at Wellesley High has been in his role for ten years and co-lead the session. It is an opportunity for the academic coordinators to get to know others in similar roles from across the state. It is also an opportunity for them to identify common challenges and leave with ideas and new approaches to addressing those challenges.
“This is a great opportunity for WCC to provide resources for much needed services. This is our second time working with the BRYT organization and we are glad to have them back here again,” said Stephen Beach, Executive Director.
