Three people, including one juvenile, were arrested and charged after allegedly robbing a bank in Wellesley on June 1.
On June 1 at approximately 12:15 p.m., Wellesley police received word of a bank robbery in progress at the TD Bank in Wellesley, located at 380 Washington Street, according to a press release from the Wellesley Police Department.
By the time police arrived, an alleged suspect had fled the scene. With a description provided by the bank, officers were on the lookout for suspects.
While responding to the call of the bank robbery, a Wellesley police officer observed a Nissan sedan traveling east on Washington Street near the bank. The officer indicated that the driver appeared to be attempting to hide his face from the officer’s view.
The officer followed the Nissan as it turned onto Maugus Avenue, at which point a witness advised that they had observed two individuals get out of the Nissan and walk away. The witness found it suspicious because of the police sirens in the area.
Officers located the two individuals who exited the vehicle and the driver of the Nissan. All three were briefly detained and were later placed into custody.
A 23-year-old Lowell resident and an 18-year-old Milton resident were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy, and a 17-year-old juvenile was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy and carrying a dangerous weapon.
The two adult suspects are due back in court on July 1. The juvenile was arraigned at Dedham Juvenile Court on June 2.
